Benowa & Paradise Point Catchment Stormwater Drainage Studies

City of Gold Coast engaged Burchills to develop two Stormwater Drainage Studies. A systematic and detailed assessment of local flooding and drainage risks on the Gold Coast is addressed through the progressive implementation of Stormwater Drainage Studies (SDS). These studies establish a prioritised list of drainage catchments in terms of flooding and drainage risk. The list is then evaluated and the Study areas with the greatest risk move to Forward Planning.

The project scope of works is broadly to undertake the following for two (2) individual urban stormwater drainage catchments of the suburbs Benowa and Paradise Point area:

  • Existing Information Review;
  • Production of Flood Modelling/Mapping (utilising 1D/2D TUFLOW hydrodynamic software to estimate design storm flood data – depths, levels, velocity, hazard);
  • Identification of catchment stormwater quality issues utilising MUSIC software;
  • Ground Truthing and Model Refinement;
  • Identification of study areas for Forward Planning;
  • Study Report; and
  • Meetings with Principal to progressively review progress and Study findings.
