The River Links project is a 109ha site uniquely situated adjacent to the Pacific Motorway and the Coomera River.

Concept planning has involved a process of optimising the integration of waterfront industry, commercial and retail development, water orientated tourist facilities and residential development. It includes:

  • 500 residences covering 6 islands, all connected by bridges and causeways;
  • Medium density and single unit housing;
  • Riverfront lots; and
  • Exclusive moorings for residents’ boats.
  • River Links was one of the first canal developments to fall within the new environmental guidelines of the Coastal Management Protection Act.

    During design engineering issues included:

  • Acid sulphate soils which Burchills Engineering coped with on-site by way of containment ponds of dredge tailings, lime additive treatments and detailed construction procedures;
  • Regional flooding concerns with some sections requiring more than two meters of fill; and
  • Extensive geotechnical investigation and analysis.
  • Traffic Engineering, Town Planning, Environmental and Engineering Development Approvals from Local and State Government Departments were also included in the scope of work.
